Truth: Many nights, I would rather stay up late drinking tequila, eating Swedish fish & watching Netflix.

INSTEAD, MOST NIGHTS I GO TO BED EARLY, EAT HEALTHY AND ABSTAIN FROM ALCOHOL SO I CAN WAKE UP EARLY AND EXERCISE.

The question is why?
Why do I pick the healthier option?
You may not love the answer.

As we get older, the road narrows and we have fewer choices if we want to live a long, healthy life. I admit I have an added incentive: if I didn’t walk the walk, I don’t think you’d actually want to hire me to coach you on living your healthiest, happiest and whole life.

Plus, I feel better when I take care of myself. And I’ll bet you do, too.

Now here’s the thing we never learned, or we decided to look away from: It’s up to us to take care of ourselves. To self-parent.

You see, no one actually cares what you eat (or drink), whether you exercise, how much water you drink or what time you go to bed.

While I’m all for the occasional tequila, sweets and a late movie night, it makes sense to choose the healthier options most of the time. Here’s WHY:

✅Why we need to eat more fruits & veggies- Regularly eating your greens (and reds and oranges) can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of digestive problems and have a positive effect on blood sugar;

✅Why we need to exercise (especially as we get older)- It helps prevent disease, lower the risk of falls and improve mental health and well-being. It also strengthens social ties and improves cognitive function. We also lose muscle mass as we get older, so strength training can help you age more gracefully (plus, muscles are sexy);

✅Why we need to drink 80 oz of water a day (yes, you read that right)-Water boosts energy, delivers important nutrients to our cells (especially muscle cells), postponing muscle fatigue, helps weight loss, aids in digestion, and detoxifies & hydrates skin

✅Why it’s a good idea to cut back on alcohol consumption -  Alcohol has been linked to poor sleep quality and duration, weight gain, pancreatitis, heart problems, high blood pressure, a weakened immune system, and a damaged liver. It can also wreak havoc with many prescription and over-the-counter medications.

✅ Why we need to get good rest (7-9 hours a night) - Lack of sleep puts us at higher risk of all sorts of less-than-fun conditions, such as diabetes, weight gain, and heart disease, and can decrease your life expectancy. It's now clear that a solid night's sleep is essential for a long and healthy life.

So do you want to learn how to live a long and healthy life?

I am launching a women’s group later this month.

If you want to get healthy along side your sisters, comment YES below and I will send you the information.

Please remember, wellness is a lot less expensive than illness.
