I’ll be honest…

SUCCESS IN THE FIRST PART OF MY LIFE WAS DEFINED BY MY JOB (AND HOW MUCH MONEY I WAS MAKING), THE COMPANY I KEPT (I WAS MARRIED) AND MY VERY BUSY SOCIAL CALENDAR.

TODAY, NOT SO MUCH.

Here’s what success looks like for me at 54:

✅ LIKING WHO I AM BEING-Several times throughout the day, I check in with myself. Did I handle that interaction the best way I could have? Was I present with compassion? Did I accept that my car battery died (because it did) If not, that’s cool. It’s information. I adjust and keep going.

✅ TAKING GREAT CARE OF MY PHYSICAL& EMOTIONAL HEALTH- I know that when I fuel and nourish my body with real food, exercise, get solid rest and meditate I feel better. It’s not that I do this perfectly every day, but I do make intentional decisions from a place of knowing what the result will be. I know if I eat sugar or stay out late, the next day will be more challenging. Sometimes it’s worth it.

✅ RECOGNIZING THAT TIME IS MY MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE- Sometimes NOT making plans so I can see WHAT I actually want to MOMENT TO MOMENT- I know this one sounds crazy, but have you ever looked at your schedule and thought, “I don’t want to do any of this?” Here’s why: How can you know today what you will want to do next Tuesday? This past weekend, flowing moment to moment meant I ate dinner out alone in the city I live in for the first time in years, and made a new friend in the process.

✅ SPENDING TIME WITH QUALITY PEOPLE who help me to be better by finding joy in the moment, calling  me out when I am behaving badly (and help me course correct) & calming my nervous system. Just as some foods don’t agree with you, some people don’t, either. And you feel it the same way – in your body. That’s okay. There are billions of people on the planet; not all of them are meant for you. You can leave relationships that don’t align. The universe will send you people who do.

✅ DOING WHAT I LOVE EVERYDAY. I am so grateful that I found my passion and I have the privilege of helping my clients to be healthy in body and mind. Being on this journey myself, I have so much compassion for how challenging it can be. Accountability makes it easier, and way more fun.

✅ SERVICE- when you’re feeling helpless, help someone. Being on the board of a non- profit (FEAST) helps me to remember that we all share this world and we all need each other. I try to be of service daily (extra credit if you’re not found out).

If you want something different in your life, you have to do something different.

The future is nothing more than what you’re doing in the present. If your life feels successful currently, that's amazing - stay on your path.

If you want to make a change that will help you feel healthier, happier and more whole, reach out. If you never try, you’ll never know.
