Diary of a Sick Health Coach
What I learned from having the flu for one week (and counting):
✅ A healthy person wants a lot of things, a sick person wants one thing (HEALTH). All I’m focused on right now is healing. It took the flu for me to learn how to focus on what matters most;
✅ A fever is your body’s way of fighting an infection; it means your body is working (YAY);
✅ Listen to your body. It’s easier said than done. I have to be honest, even with a fever I attempted to go to the gym. BAD idea. When you’re sick you need to heed to your body's infinite wisdom. S
leep is your body's superpower;
✅ HYDRATE- Being well-hydrated helps alleviate symptoms so you feel better faster; it also helps your immune system work efficiently, so you recover quickly;
✅ Canceling work is OK and better for your health. Since I launched my business, I have prided myself on never taking a sick day; I guess I thought that healthy people shouldn’t get sick. I stand corrected. We can’t do our jobs if we don't take care of ourselves. Let’s normalize prioritizing our health above everything;
✅ Me time is good. Having NO VOICE meant spending a lot of time with myself. This one was hard for me. I cleaned closets, slept, journaled and learned to enjoy being alone for the first time in awhile.
I am emerging from this past week feeling grateful for a body that is doing an excellent job, for the amazing friends who took care of me and mostly for this amazing life that is so completely out of my control that I have just one choice…..
Acceptance
I look forward to being an active member of my life soon, and being a better Health Coach too.
Speaking of, I am launching two new groups in January, Men’s and Women’s - DM me for more information. No time like the present to prioritize your health, trust me on that.
You’re not meant to do this life alone,
Xx Lauren
